Today, We’re going to take a look at the required documents for the Sogang University Foreigner Admissions~

Sogang Univ.Foreign Student Admission Required Documents

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

First, we will check the required documents related to academic background.

 

Application form need to be printed out after completing online application.

 

Agreement for verification of academic records need to be printed out after completing online application and be submitted with signature.

 

There are personal statement and study plan. Application may be completed in either Korean or English.

 

High school diploma (or certification of expected graduation)  and high school transcript (all years) must be verified by apostille or a Korean Consulate office of the country where the high school is located.

 

Those who completed the academic secondary education track in China need to submit Verification Report of China Secondary Education Qualification Certificate (in English) and transcript verified by the Korean Consulate officer.

 

All documents must be in either Korean or English.

Any documents that is not in Korean or English must be translated and notarized,

 

​Applicants who (are to) graduate high school in China are required to submit HUIKAO result.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Transfer students don't need to submit high school transcript (all years).

 

Those who transfer to 2nd year need to submit certificate of completion (or expected completion) of 2 or more semesters (1year), or certificatie of enrolment from a 4-year university in Korea / overseas, or graduation certificate (or certificate of expected graduation) from a junior or technical college in Korea / overseas.

 

 

 

 

 

Next, we will look at the required documents related to eligibility.

 

Let's see Language proficiency certificates, a Copy of the Identification document (Proof of nationality), and Proof of family relations.

 

Language proficiency certificates falls under the following

 

- A TOPIK certificate

 

- a Certificate of Completion of the Level 3 course or higher issued by a Sogang Korean Language Institute

 

- a Certificate of Completion of the Level 3 courese or higher of an accredited university in Korea.

 

- In case an applicant does not have any Korean language proficiency certificate, the applicant must submit a document to prove his/her English proficiency (e.g. IELTS, TOEFL, TEPS etc. No minimum score is required.)

 

Copy of identification document (proof of nationality) includes a copy of the identification of the student and the parent(s), a passport copy for each of the students and the parent(s) ; a copy of nationally certified identifications issued in the applicant's country.

 

Those without a passport may submit a copy of the national identification issued in the applicant's country or an original of certificate of alien registration issued in the Republic of Korea.

 

As proof of family relationship, one copy of the applicant's birth certificate need to be submitted. If birth certificate is not available, sutmit certified copies of the Family Register for applicant and applicant's parents or a Certificate of Family Relations in order to prove family relationships.

 

Applicants of Chinese nationality are required to submit an English copy of the certificate of family relations in English, one copy of the Family Register for applicant and applicant's parents. Both documents must be verified by a notary public in English.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Next, let’s see Certificate of Loss of Korean Citizenship and Financial proof documents.

 

Certificate of Loss of Korean Citizenship is only applied to ethnic Korean who are not Korean nationals.

 

A bank statement need to be submitted as financial proof documents.

 

The bank statement must be issued within 30days from the application date. However, the document with an expiration date can be recognized as a valid certificate until the expiration date (up to 6 months from the date of issue)

 

 

 

 

 

Next, let's take a look at optional documents.

 

If the student chooses to submit one or more of the following,

s/he must submit it/them with the list of supplementary materials (Form3).

 

A. Certificate of admission from other universities and score reports for recognized tests (SAT, ACT, AP, A-LEVEL, IB, etc).

 

B. Certificate for language proficiency tests (TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, HSK, JLPT, DELF, DELE, TestDaf, etc). (This is required for those applicants who submit a document of English Proficiency in lieu of Korean proficiency certificates.

 

C. Other documents such as awards received during high school, certificates of qualification, etc.

 

 

 

 

 

Original documents should be submitted, as a rule. However, if documents cannot be submitted, copies must be authorized by the originating institution or by Sogang University within the period of submission.

 

If the submitted documents are incomplete, applicants will be excluded from admission. However, additional

documents may be requested in the case of difficulties in confirming facts within the submitted documents.
